KonoSuba Sequel Announced – Is Season 4 on the Horizon?

Great news for fans of KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! Kadokawa officially announced the production of a sequel anime to the beloved series last Friday, March 14th, 2025.

While the "format" of the sequel – whether it will be a fourth season or a movie – remains undisclosed, the announcement was made in conjunction with the conclusion of Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! 3 -Bonus Stage’s theatrical run in Japan.

Bonus Stage itself is an Original Video Animation (OVA) consisting of two previously unaired episodes. The limited two-week screenings in Japan have concluded, and the OVA will be available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD starting April 25th, 2025.

The OVA brings back the same staff and voice cast as the third season of the KonoSuba anime. The two episodes are titled "Red Stream Explosion!" and "Nisemono Chūi!" (Beware of Fakes!).

The third season of KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!, adapted from the light novel series by Natsume Akatsuki, premiered from April 18th, 2024, to June 18th, 2024, with a total of 11 episodes. The anime is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, including an English dub.

Season 3 saw Takaomi Kanasaki (previously the anime’s director) serving as chief director at studio Drive. Yujiro Abe (Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Great Pretender episode director) took on the role of director, while Makoto Uezu returned to write the scripts, and Koichi Kikuta was responsible for character design. Masato Kōda continued to compose the music, with the opening theme "Growing Up" performed by Machico, and the ending theme "Ano Hi no Mama no Bokura" (Us, Just Like on That Day) sung by Sora Amamiya, Rie Takahashi, and Ai Kayano.

This sequel announcement is undoubtedly exciting news for KonoSuba fans worldwide. Stay tuned for further information regarding the format and release date of the sequel anime!
