Tachiyomi Alternative, 'Mihon' Officially Released
Following the cessation of the Tachiyomi project due to threats from Kakao Entertainment Corp towards the involved team, a new community-driven project has emerged as an alternative to Tachiyomi.
Named "Mihon," this free and open-source application is designed for manga reading, featuring a user interface, extensions, and reading experience that closely resembles Tachiyomi.
What is Mihon?
Mihon is an open-source and free manga/comic/webtoon reading application. Initially, it comes as a bare application, offering only local sources. This means users who wish to add extensions, similar to those in Tachiyomi, must do so manually.
Adding Extensions to Mihon
The process of adding extensions to Mihon is straightforward. Users can add a single .json link through the menu "Settings > Browse > Extension Repository," created by the community.
This makes extensions appear in Mihon just as they do in Tachiyomi, allowing users to install their desired extensions (not all are mandatory to install).
The following .json link can be copied and pasted into Mihon's extension repository to add extensions:

As of January 18, 2024, Mihon has released its Stable V.16.1 version. It can be downloaded from the following link:

Once the application from this link is installed, users can add extensions by copying the first link provided above. This allows for additional sources beyond just the local ones.
Conclusion
Mihon stands as a noteworthy alternative to Tachiyomi, offering a familiar user experience for manga enthusiasts. Its open-source nature and community-driven development ensure a platform that is both adaptable and responsive to user needs. This release is a significant step forward for the manga reading community, providing a valuable tool for those seeking a comprehensive and customizable reading experience.
