Hwang Minhyun to Star in New K-Drama 'Study Group' Adapted from Webtoon

In a thrilling announcement that has ignited excitement among fans, it has been confirmed that Hwang Minhyun, the former member of Wanna One and current member of NU'EST, will be the protagonist in the upcoming series "Study Group".
According to an entertainment industry insider on the 22nd, Hwang Minhyun has been cast as the lead character in the new Tving original series, "Study Group", written by Um Seon-ho and directed by Lee Jang-hoon.
"Study Group" is based on a popular webtoon of the same name and revolves around Yoon Ga-min, a boy who is exceptionally talented in fighting but wishes to excel in academics. He forms a study group in the worst school imaginable and gets caught up in a high-stakes, blood-splattered college entrance exam story.
Hwang Minhyun will portray the protagonist, Yoon Ga-min. Although he looks like the model student from a humanities background, he attends Yuseong High School, known as the worst school in the area.
Yoon Ga-min is a character who lacks academic prowess, no matter how hard he studies. However, driven by his goal to enter college, he sits at his desk, determined to achieve his dreams. When his study group friends become targets of bullying, Yoon Ga-min unveils his hidden talent for fighting by taking off his glasses and school uniform.
Having made his drama debut with JTBC's "Live On" in 2020, Hwang Minhyun has proven his acting skills through various genres, including the musical "Marie Antoinette" and tvN's "Hwahong." He is also expected to showcase a new side of himself through the drama "Useless Lie" alongside Kim So-hyun. In addition to his kind-hearted image displayed in previous works, Hwang Minhyun's upcoming performance as an "action monster" has further raised expectations for his versatility as an actor.
"Study Group" will be directed by Lee Jang-hoon, the director behind films like "Miracle" and "Be with You." The casting process for other key characters is currently underway, and filming will commence following the completion of the casting.
