3 Abilities of Tanjiro's Father in Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
During his lifetime, Tanjuro Kamado, Tanjiro's father, was sickly. However, he possessed remarkable abilities as the heir to Hinokami Kagura's technique. Despite his frailty, he displayed great fighting power, even demonstrating the ability to single-handedly kill a large bear with ease.
Let's explore the abilities of Tanjiro's father in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
1. Mastery of Hinokami Kagura
Tanjuro Kamado was able to flawlessly perform the Hinokami Kagura dance continuously from dusk to dawn.
In the Kamado family tradition, it is customary for someone to perform the 12 Hinokami Kagura techniques without interruption at the beginning of each year. Despite his physical condition, Tanjuro faithfully carried out this tradition.
In a flashback from chapter 151, Tanjuro mentioned that performing the ritual was initially challenging when he was young and healthy. However, as he gained a deeper understanding of the ritual's essence, he was able to execute it effortlessly.
According to Tanjuro, proper breathing, precise movements, and harnessing maximum strength with minimal effort are crucial aspects of this ritual.
It's worth noting that these 12 Hinokami Kagura techniques are actually derived from the Sun Breathing technique created by Yoriichi Tsugikuni, allowing Tanjuro to employ these techniques in combat.
2. Perception of the Transparent World
Tanjuro Kamado possessed the ability to perceive the SukitÅru Sekai, also known as the transparent world. This ability enables the user to seemingly see through their opponents, observing the movements of joints, blood flow, and muscle contractions.
In a flashback from chapter 151, Tanjuro discussed this transparent world with a young Tanjiro.
Tanjiro's narration in chapter 151 also mentions an incident where he witnessed his father effortlessly slaying a bear. This served as a form of perceptual training for Tanjiro, allowing him to learn from his father's defensive maneuvers and gain the ability to see the world transparently. It is important to note that Tanjuro rarely showcased his strength for mere amusement.
After witnessing this flashback, Tanjiro himself gains the ability to perceive the transparent world.
3. Concealment of Killing Intent in Battle
While engaging the bear, Tanjuro Kamado displayed a remarkable absence of hesitation, fear, and even killing intent.
His demeanor can be compared to that of plants, which clearly do not emit any killing intent or fighting spirit. This unique attribute proves advantageous in battle.
There are fighters like Akaza, who can anticipate the fighting spirit of their opponents. However, when confronted by Tanjiro, who does not exude a fighting spirit, Akaza finds himself unable to predict Tanjiro's moves. In chapter 153, Akaza even perceives Tanjiro as if he were fighting a plant. Thus, if Tanjuro were to face Akaza, he might have been able to confound him as well.
With his mastery of Hinokami Kagura, the ability to perceive the transparent world, and the capability to fight without emitting killing intent or a fighting spirit, Tanjiro's father possessed considerable strength.
Considering the combination of these three abilities, it becomes evident why he could effortlessly dispatch bears.
If Tanjuro had been a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, he might have been capable of taking on demons at the level of Akaza.
Unfortunately, Tanjuro passed away before Tanjiro embarked on his own adventure.
