The highly anticipated anime adaptation of "Oshi no Ko" has been making waves among fans. Produced by Doga Kobo, the series made its debut on April 12, 2023, with a gripping 90-minute first episode.(Actually 82-minute without ads).

"Oshi no Ko" is based on a manga series by Aka Akasaka, the creator of "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War," and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, the creator of "Kuzu no Honkai." The story revolves around Ai Hoshino, a talented and beautiful 16-year-old idol who is adored by her fans. However, beneath her shiny exterior lies a darker side.

Gorou, a rural doctor and a devoted fan of Ai, receives a shocking surprise one day when he learns that his favorite idol is pregnant. As her attending physician, he promises to ensure a safe delivery. Little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure will lead to his untimely demise, or so he believes.

To his surprise, Gorou awakens to find himself reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, one of Ai's newborn twins. Aquamarine is a boy, while Ruby Hoshino, the other twin, is a girl and the reincarnation of Gorou's previous patient who tragically passed away. Both children idolize Ai and are thrilled to be born as her offspring.

However, Gorou soon realizes that the world of entertainment is not all glamour and success. The industry is filled with challenges, and talent alone does not guarantee happiness. The series explores the question of whether he can protect the smile of his beloved idol.

Following its premiere, "Oshi no Ko" received a warm welcome from fans, generating immense enthusiasm. The first episode quickly gained popularity on social media, with viewers eagerly sharing their excitement. The series also climbed to the top spot on various platforms and the renowned otaku community, MyAnimeList, overtaking "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" to become the leading anime series. (Although it held its position temporarily, the top anime rankings on MAL have shifted since the airing of the last few episodes, causing Oshi no Ko to fall down the list.)
